Some sessions feel extra special, and this one is definitely one of them. Rhean + Scott are dear friends of mine, and getting to document their family over the years has been such a meaningful part of my work. I first photographed Rhean and Scott during their engagement session, then their wedding day, and now I have the joy of capturing their family as it grows with these adorable little boys.

One of the most common questions I receive before a session is: “What should we wear?” Choosing outfits for family photos can feel overwhelming, but it really doesn’t have to be. The goal is not to look perfectly styled — it’s simply to look like yourselves while keeping things visually cohesive. Here are a few simple tips that help families look great in photos without overthinking it.

This family adventure session was the perfect reminder that the best family photos happen when everyone simply leans into the moment together. With space to explore, laugh, and just be themselves, this session was filled with movement, connection, and genuine joy. I love photographing families this way. They picked the location that meant a lot to their family with the people closest to them.

This session was truly one of my dreams come to life. Earlier last year, I shared a few bucket list sessions I hoped to photograph and a homestead session was at the very top of that list. When Lisa reached out to nominate her family, I instantly knew they were the perfect fit. We spent the evening wandering their beautiful property — the place where they garden, keep bees, raise their babies, and build a life rooted in homemade simplicity.

We laid out a simple white sheet in the middle of tall summer grass, brought out a few soft, earthy tones of paint, and let the rest unfold naturally. What started as careful brush strokes quickly turned into laughter, splattered jeans, paint-covered toes and the kind of joy you can’t script. I love sessions like this - where parents let go, kids lead the way, and everyone leaves a little messier but a whole lot more connected. These are the moments that feel like childhood. Honest, playful, and beautifully imperfect.

One of my all time favourite lifestyle family sessions. There is no greater compliment then when a family gives you full trust in the location, posing and vision of the session. We originally had this scheduled for September but wanted more fall colours instead of green grass so we postponed until end of October and I’m so glad we did. We lucked out with the most beautiful weather, golden colours and the perfect night in this location. Thank you S family for trusting me once again with your families memories.
