Iceland Adventure Photo Dump
Sharing just a few of the thousands of images I took on our recent family adventure through Iceland. What a dream.
I had dreamed of visiting Iceland for the past 15 years, and this summer it was finally our turn to experience one of the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Where every bend in the road feels like stepping into a different world. We went into the trip with zero expectations about how much we'd see or how far we could push it with our two boys. Instead, we let them lead the adventure. Every day looked a little different depending on their energy, interests, and curiosity. We spent a lot of time in the famous Iceland pools and enjoying the bouncy pillows they have everywhere.
The only things we booked before we left were our flights and our motorhome. Everything else we figured out as we went. I had an entire spreadsheet with a detailed itinerary, but my husband convinced me to throw it out the window (not literally 😂), and I'm so glad we did. Traveling this way gave us the freedom to slow down, stay longer in places we loved, and stumble upon so many incredible spots we never would have found otherwise. We ended up seeing far more than we ever expected while driving 1850km around the ring road!
I'll be sharing a follow-up blog with our full itinerary, where we stayed, what everything cost, and the tips that made traveling Iceland as a family so memorable.
But this trip was so much more than just another vacation.
During my mom's final months, we talked about Iceland often. She made me promise that I would make this trip happen one day. Standing in a place I'd dreamed about for so long, I couldn't help but think of her. Losing someone you love has a way of changing your perspective. It reminds you that life is incredibly short, and that "someday" isn't guaranteed. More than ever, I'm realizing I don't want to spend my life waiting for the perfect time. I want to chase the adventures, make the memories, and do the things, while I still can.
Below are a few of my favourite images. I have so many more of our family and boys experiencing the magic of this place but I want to keep those for myself.
