OUR HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON
Finally! I have been trying to make this blog post for weeks now, but our internet has not been cooperating. I wanted to share a couple of my favorite photos from our Honeymoon. By a couple, I mean a lot because it was too hard to pick just a few! These are a mix between iPhone, my DSLR and some images from our photo shoot with Meg Courtney. These images from our honeymoon mean more to me than anyone will ever know. This way by far the greatest two weeks I have shared with someone in one of the most spectacular places on earth. We did absolutely anything and everything, and it was worth every minute of it. If you have not yet been to Hawaii, do it!
We spent 17 days total on two of the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu and Kauai. While they both have very much the same cultural background, they are both completely different. Oahu was busy, touristy and a faster pace with so much to do. Kauai was secluded, quiet and romantic with beautiful waterfalls and hikes. We chose to visit Oahu first, and pack our days full of adventure and end our honeymoon on a quieter note in Kauai.
Darcy has had Pearl Harbour on his bucket list since he was younger, and we spent a full day on the grounds. We took a boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial, toured the USS Missouri battle ship and saw the USS Bowfin Submarine. While we are at Pearl Harbour, we had the opportunity to meet a 99 year old Pearl Harbour survivor!
I think one of my absolute favorite parts of our trip was swimming with 3 sea turtles. We were snorkelling on Oahu, and I looked to my left and saw them just cruising with us! It was one of the greatest days.
We visited the Dole Pineapple Plantation on Oahu. It was a cool experience. We toured the pineapple fields, learned how to grow and cut our own pineapple and got to taste delicious dole whip! I may even have my own pineapple growing in our home now…. Hopefully in 22 months we will be able to eat it. Yup, it takes 22 months to grow a pineapple. Crazy!
For those of you who have been to Hawaii, know how popular “Shave Ice” is. I crave it everyday since we have been home, it is so delicious and way different then a snow cone in Canada!
We did our first hike together – may have been my first hike ever!
The Napali Coast, Kauai has been on my bucket list for years. It is one of the 7 wonders of the world and it is definitely spectacular. We hiked along the top as well as took a Catamaran along the coast. Where we got to cruise/swim with Dolphins!
Here are some frames from our session with Meg Courtney, if you haven’t already – go check out her work! She is a unbelievable photographed based out of Kauai. It has always been a dream of mine to be photographed by Meg, so when we booked Kauai I knew I had to book a session! These images are so relaxed, fun and us!
Thank you for visits and sharing some of our favorite moments from our Honeymoon!
