DIY BIRD FEEDER WREATHS

Usually at Christmas time I gift my baking for friends/family and coworkers. But this year being the odd year that it is, I wasn’t sure how people would feel about that. So I decided to stray away from that and make these easy DIY bird feeder wreaths. Which I am going to share with you guys how to make. They are so simple and make the cutest gifts to give to your loved ones. I had everything to make these in my house, with the exception of mini bundt pans, which I have wanted forever anyways so it made the perfect excuse to buy them. And really, who doesn’t LOVE feeding the birds?

Here’s what you need:
– 1/2 cup hot water
– 1 package of unflavoured gelatin or pectin
– 3/4 cup flour
– 3 tbsp corn syrup
– 4 cups bird seed
– Nonstick cooking spray
– Bundt pan or molds
– Burlap Ribbon or twine

Here’s what you do:
1. Spray your bundt pan or mold with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Mix gelatin or pectin with 1/2 cup hot water until dissolved. Stir in flour and corn syrup until mixed well.
3. Add your 4 cups of bird seed and combine until coated well.
4. Scoop mixture into your pan or mold, pressing down with the back of your spoon or spatula until packed well.
5. Place your mold in the fridge or somewhere cold to set and firm up.
6. After 24 hours, unfold your seed wreath on parchment paper.
7. I let mine sit out on the counter overnight to harden more, then I wrapped twine around them to hang from the trees.

If you are using a large bundt pan, make sure. you double your recipe. I have also read to put a wire inside the big wreathes to hold them together better when the birds start picking away at them.

They are so fun to make alone or have your littles help you! I know my family and friends will love these too.
