I actually wasn’t planning on sharing this recipe. Last night I made a big batch of this and after posting a photograph of this on my instagram story, I had at least 25 messages asking for the recipe. So here it is. I can’t take credit for this deliciousness though. My mom has been making this for years and it’s always a huge hit with everyone who has tried it. So here it is folks, Mama Weston’s famous Candy Cane White Chocolate popcorn recipe.
The recipe sounds huge and like it will make too much. You’re probably going to think about cutting it in half. But don’t. You’ll regret it later when you are making a second batch tomorrow. If you don’t have self control, I’m really sorry in advance.
- 24 cups popped popcorn
- 3 cups melted white chocolate (about 2 bags of Hershey’s chocolate chips)
- 2/3 cup finely crushed peppermint candy canes
- Place popped popcorn in a large bowl.
- Pour melted chocolate over popcorn.
- Stir gently until popcorn is evenly coated.
- Sprinkle with candy canes and toss gently just until combined.
- Spread mixture over a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Once white chocolate has hardened, store in an air tight container for up to 1 week (it won’t last that long, don’t worry).

If you’re like me and think melting white chocolate is the hardest thing to master – here’s a tip for you that works for me. Melt your chocolate chips over a double boiler. When they are starting to melt and go a bit clumpy, add a tbsp of butter and a splash of milk. Whisk together until smooth. And it will pour over your popcorn so much easier!
