I don’t even know where to begin with this day. Do I start with meeting the groomsman in the morning in the bush to shoot clays, scouting locations in torrential down pouring rain, the HELICOPTER that picked us up for wedding photos on top of a mountain, the grizzly bear and cubs we saw, the intimate ceremony down by the flowing river, the unbelievably cool moment of shooting my couple from the passenger seat of a chopper while the couple is on the side of a mountain, not only me falling waist deep into the snow but also the bride, Jenny or the unbelievably party afterwards? It was all too good to be true!
The weekend was rainy, it was cold but it was fun! Kyle + Jenny have spent so much of their time in the mountains and their favorite place to go together is Fernie. What better place to get married? Also, my favorite destination to photograph in. We were all getting a little nervous when it rained all day Friday/Saturday and did not look like it was letting up but Kyle + Jenny picked the perfect ceremony location and weren’t budging rain or shine. 2pm on Saturday when their ceremony began, the rain stopped for exactly 30 minutes and started again as they shared their first kiss. I’m not a super sentimental person, but that was pure magic and luck. It gave me shivers. It was so intimate and they added so much personality to their wedding day. The river flowing in the back ground, birds chirping and their closest friends and family surrounding them to celebrate their love for each other.
Kyle + Jenny were then surprised with a private helicopter to take them wherever they wanted to have their wedding photos taken. I have known about this plan for awhile now. I was dying to scream on the top of my lungs that I get to go in a helicopter (it has been on my bucket list since I was a little girl) , but of course it was a surprise and I could not tell a soul! Kyle + Jenny were going on about this location they had found and thats where they wanted to do their photos. I just went along with it, kind of giggling to myself because little did they know what was going to happen next! It was as unbelievably amazing as I thought. A glass floor where you could see birds flying under neath us. Seeing land that has never been trekked by humans before. Almost landing where a grizzly and her cubs were hanging out. Flying over glaciers. The pilot dropped us off, literally on this little point on a mountain side. It was so cool even though I am afraid of heights! We photographed on top of the mountain for a while, than I jumped in the chopper and we left Kyle + Jenny on the side of a mountain! I photographed them from the passenger seat of the chopper. BEST DAY EVER! PS. Kyle + Jenny – you two are rock stars at posing yourself!
Kyle + Jenny, thank you from the bottom of my heart for including me in your wedding day. It was one of the most memorable days of my photography career, and my life!
