Checking in from Phoenix

Wow, what a week it has been! This has been one of the most relaxing vacations we have yet to be on together. I have been needing this for awhile now. I know most are you thinking, didn’t you just come back from Vietnam? Yes I did, and it was amazing but it definitely was not relaxing. Being able to go to bed whenever you want, wake up whenever you want, eat whenever you want and do whatever you want is exactly what we both needed! Life gets crazy sometimes, and I’ve really learned that you need to slow down. Pay attention to the small details that make up your days and focus on enjoying life instead of having it pass right by you. Before you know it, you will be old, retired and sitting wondering what you did with your life OTHER than work! Don’t make that mistake, start looking at the little things in life, start doing things you wouldn’t normally do, step out of your comfort zone and live on the end. I promise you – It will be worth it! Heres what we have been up to this past week other than eating, shopping and sleeping.

We wondered around West Gate for about an hour or so. This is the area that the Phoenix Coyotes and the Phoenix Cardinals play at. When there are games here, the place is alive. Bars, fountains, restaurants – you name it! It’s one of my favorite places to wonder around in Phoenix. Plus its only 10 minutes from our house! Beautiful eh?

As most of you know, I am a real sucker for a beautiful sunset! I fall in love all over again. One night we were out shopping and I saw the most beautiful sunset yet! Being in the heart of the city makes it really hard to find a beautiful place with no surroundings to take a couple sunset pictures. We stopped by “Friendship Park” in Avondale. Sunsets don’t last long, so we couldn’t waste to much time driving around. I am SO glad we stopped here. It was one of my favorite moments from this trip. There were ducks, swans and birds everywhere! And all these little heads bobbing everywhere – which were….. TURTLES! Hundreds of them everywhere. In the heart of the city, something so simple can make me so happy. Words don’t even describe my love for little things like this!

As Arizona is WAY to hot for life right now, any physical activity is not possible during the day. Could you image riding bikes in 43 degrees?? No, I didn’t think so. So we usually spend our nights in the pool, cooking dinner than riding our cruisers. My mom has been asking my dad for cruisers since they got the house down here, and my dad came home with these one day. Imagine the excitement my mom had. Ever since than, these bad boys have got lots of love and we have lots of memories on them! Who couldn’t have fun on a hot pink retro bike?

One thing you must know about me is I have a weakness for sea creatures. Actually I think I just love any kind of creature. Seriously, I love everything about them. When I found out there was even an Aquarium in Phoenix, it made my whole day. I jumped in the shower and we were literally out the door within 30 minutes of us finding out about it. Little things like seeing a turtle or a jelly fish make me so happy. I was in heaven for hour we were there. I find it a little funny there is an aquarium in the middle of the desert, I won’t complain though! Enjoy my pictures I snapped this afternoon, I’m sure they will make you smile a little too 🙂
